Saturday 23rd November 2019 Walk Report.

13 members met at the Dukes at Welford for a six mile walk on a slightly damp overcast day but with a fair temperature.

Left the village via the church and on to Woodford MIll passing fields with much lying water and which was playing host to lots of gulls, wild fowl and cormorants.

On reaching the mill adjacent to Willy Watt Marina the river level was very high, not surprising after all the recent rain.

Continued past Kinewell Lake on Ringstead Road.

Turned right at site of Ringstead station then joined the disused Northampton to Peterborough East railway line which was closed in 1966.
When approaching Woodford Lock the iron Bridge over the River nene was being painted top and bottom ( undercoat and matt black.
The footpath along the river was very slippy but all walkers survived without falling over.

Arrived back at the pub after 2.5 hours for a very welcome lunch.

Thanks to John A for organising and leading this walk and for providing this report.
Thanks also to Julie S for back marking and providing pictures.
