Committee Vacancy.

At the last  committee meeting a discussion took place about whether other members of the club might be interested in joining the committee and it was concluded that while this might be desirable we were up to full strength.

Vonnie  M has suggested that as the job of Rambles Secretary is no different from that of the Thursday Walks Co-ordinator which is not a committee position then she would be quite happy to carry on with the actual work of filling the walk card and also administering the club Facebook page but without having to attend committee meetings as a full member.

I agreed to this and this and it has created a vacancy for a general committee member without specific responsibilities. There would be a requirement to attend four meeting a year so if you would like to be more involved in helping run the club please let the chairman know as soon as possible.

If more than one person applies there would be a vote at the forthcoming AGM to decide who the successful candidate would be. The successful candidate would also have to satisfy some basic insurance checks.

Thursday 6th January 2020 Walk Report.

Over thirty walkers met in the car park of the George at Brixwoth including two visitors who were under the impression that they were joining a Ramblers walk so were already members of the group. Sue C explained that we were a separate group ( as the Chairman said Kettering oldest and independent walking group) and lost no opportunity in giving them application forms.
The route took the group out of the village heading for the reservoir where it looked more like Autumn than Winter with a touch of mist if not mellow fruitfulness as shown in the pictures below.

The going was a bit heavy in places but nothing daunted our intrepid band carried on regardless.

On returning to the pub were accommodated in the Library Room and service started very swiftly as we were back slightly later than forecast. There was then a hiatus for some ten minutes when nothing came out then the rest of the meals arrived accompanied by some confusion as to who had ordered what culminating in the Chairman having someone else's dessert. This occasioned much water extraction at his expense.
However considering the numbers involved the staff did well.
Thanks to Sue and Jem C for organising and leading this walk and to Carna B for providing the pictures.

LONDON TRIP : 18.04.2020

It seems that due to works on the rail line on the 18th that the 8.06 a.m. becomes a bus from the Station to Bedford and then train to St Pancras from Bedford arriving St Pancras at 10.16 a.m. which means we would have to reduce the walk route a little.

Alternatively, there is an 07.39 a.m. train frm Kettering which arrives St Pancras at 09.39 which is roughly the time we would have arrived if the 08.06 a.m. had been running without rail issues.

Can you please let Sarah on 01536 510425 have your opinion as soon as possble as to which one you favour
