Thursday 15th December Walk Report.

Around 23 of us set off for our traditional  nearly Christmas walk from the Griffin's Head at Mears Asby across the fields then around Sywell reservoir A stop was made for mulled wine and mince pies half way round the reservoir and a group photograph was taken by Ian who demonstrated his fleetness of foot by setting the self timer on his camera and sprinting into the picture the results of which are shown below.
On returm to the pub we were joined by a couple of non walking members for lunch which was excellent as always.
"After a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie even the Chairman almost managed a smile."
Thanks to Sue and Peter for organising the walk and also for providing the seasonal refreshments.

Walk Report for Thursday 1st December.

In spite of the initially cold conditions 22 walkers gathered in the car park of the Axe and Compasse for a very pleasant walk in what turned out to be almost Spring like conditions with brilliant sunshine.
The route took us through the village then across the fields to Denford.
From here we crossed the River Nene to join the old Nene Valley railway line from Northampton to Peterborough.Part way along the line we stopped for a very enjoyable banana break on an old bridge over the river tempered only by a chilly breeze.
We then continued along the line leaving at Woodford Mill Tearoom then back via Kinewell Lake to the pub where an excellent lunch was enjoyed by all.
Thanks to John for leading the walk and to Julie for acting as back marker.
The next Thursday walk will be from The Griffin's Head at Mears Ashby and seasonal refreshments will be offered part way round Sywell Reservoir so please bring a mug or a cup for some warming cheer.
