“Kettering’s Own Local Independent Walking Group”

Welcome to Kettering and District Rambling Club’s website.

Kettering and District Rambling Club was established in 1937 and exists to

  • Promote walking, friendship and enjoyment of the countryside in and around Northamptonshire
  • Increase awareness of the many attractive areas within a short distance of Kettering
  • Protect and champion the right of access along designated Rights of Way

Anyone with an interest in walking is invited to join us in exploring the local countryside.

Walks take place on alternate Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Thursday walks are generally around five miles and whilst some of the Saturday walks are the same distance they occasionally offer the chance for full day walks of up to 8-10 miles. Most walks include lunch at a pub or café.

There is also an Amblers section who walk in conjunction with some of the Thursday walks. These are normally around three to four miles and avoid stiles if possible and are aimed at those who wish to enjoy a walk but may not feel up to doing five miles and on occasions include a stop for coffee and cake en-route

The pace of the walks is generally easy, with emphasis on enjoyment and friendship.

Although the main walking programme is based around the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire countryside, there is also the opportunity to venture further afield with a mini bus trip for a day walk in Derbyshire in June and a London day walk in April. The club also runs a walking weekend break in October.

So if you fancy a bit of healthy exercise in the fresh air with good companionship and lovely countryside come and have a go.

Membership costs are extremely reasonable at only £10 per annum and you can enjoy two walks without commitment. So what are you waiting for?
